Dolomites Bike Day
The Dolomites pass roads around the Lagazuoi mountain reserved for cyclists
On Sunday, 18th June 2017, about 5,000 passionate cyclists took part in the first Dolomites Bike Day on the scenic pass roads around the Lagazuoi Mountain. In occasion of the Dolomites Bike Day the roads were closed for motorized traffic from 10 am to 3 pm and reserved for cyclists.
At the non-competitive cycling day all cyclists of all levels can participate free of charge. The event, thanks to the closure of the roads to motorized vehicles, is the perfect opportunity to experience the thrill of pedalling on the roads, which made the history of the Giro d’Italia.
To the Dolomites Bike Day athletes, passionate riders, outdoor freaks, amateurs and even children can take part and ride as fast and as far they want: The Dolomites, an Eldorado for cyclists, are an extraordinary experience for all of them. The picturesque villages, the scenic pass roads and the imposing Dolomites mountains – UNESCO has declared them a World Heritage site, will remain forever in their best memories.
The circular route, amidst fascinating natural landscapes, leads through some of the most attractive roads and well-known Dolomite passes in South Tyrol and Veneto.
For example, starting from Alta Badia you cycle passing Corvara and up to the Campolongo pass where you ride down to Arabba and Livinallongo. Here you climb the Falzarego pass and the Valparola pass – one of the most fascinating sceneries in the Alps – from where you reach again Alta Badia by cycling downwards to San Cassiano. From San Cassiano you easily reach your starting point. Find the route here.
The route has a total length of 52 km and a total difference in altitude of 1.370 meters. We recommend to ride in anti-clockwise direction.
We look forward to seeing you for the Dolomites Bike Day in June 2018!
